Have you ever heard of MerMay? It’s a fun little month-long art challenge where you draw a new mermaid every day (or however often you want) based on a given prompt!
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t recall which prompt this day was. But whatever it was inspired me to draw my favorite hero from the video game Overwatch as a mecha-mermaid! In-game, D.Va has a mech, a robot controlled by someone operating it from the inside. (Her’s is named Tokki, which means rabbit in Korean! How cute!)
Since D.Va’s mech is a huge part of her character, I knew I had to include it in this mermaid design, so I incorporated it as her tail!
I had a lot of fun with the shading and underwater lighting on this one.
